- Fever is a normal response of the immune system to control infection. If an infection has not been sufficiently handled by the white blood cells, chemicals signal the body to raise the temperature. Fever creates an inhospitable environment for bacteria and viruses. Suppressing a fever may allow the infection to spread. Peppermint, elder and yarrow support the bodys natural defense mechanism by helping the body gently raise or lower its temperature depending on the need.
